Golf activities in 2018
I was very flattered to be invited by Visit Scotland to tender for the agronomy work at the Solheim Cup Tournament to be held at Gleneagles in 2019. Two of my clients have hosted this tournament in the past – Dalmahoy in 1992 and St Pierre in 1996. After much consideration, I decided not to proceed with this but I was delighted to have been asked.
2019 marks the 20th year since I first advised at a Marriott UK golf venue – the Marriott Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire and I am very pleased to continue to advise at all the Marriott UK golf venues.
In 2018, three of the Marriott UK hotels were sold to Britannia Hotels, and I was pleased to carry out advisory visits at all their golf courses in the autumn, thus continuing my relationship with the golf courses at Meon Valley, Hollins Hall and Sprowston Manor.
In February 2018, my clients Norwood Park Golf Club and Manchester Golf Club were both shortlisted for England Golf Awards.
The severe drought of summer 2018 stimulated more interested my agronomy work and I had several new enquiries from golf clubs as a result.
