Analysis

Robert Laycock's independence allows him to utilise the best laboratories in their field for the various aspects of his work.
This is a great advantage over those agronomists who have to use their own in-house laboratory services, which may not have access to the most up to date technology used by the specialists.

Tissue analysis

Robert Laycock operates the only near infra-red (NIR) analysis service in the UK for assessing the nutrient content of grass clippings. In the few years that this rapid turn round analysis service has been offered, many greenkeepers have grown to rely on it as a management tool for determining the nutrient requirement of their turf surfaces.

A growing number of courses, both old and new, are using analysis of grass clippings, together with detailed soil analysis, to decide fertiliser and general management strategy on their greens.

"I cannot imagine running a golf course without using Robert Laycock's tissue analysis service" is a familiar comment from regular users.

The nutrient content of grass tissue can change rapidly and, for results to be useful, they need to be available quickly. Robert Laycock's tissue analysis results can be faxed back to clients on the day they are received for use in decision making on the course. The results often lead to a saving in fertiliser use and a consequent reduction in fungicide costs while improving the quality of the greens.

Chemical soil analysis

Detailed soil analysis with results for 11 essential elements, pH, CEC and organic matter content help a better understanding of soil chemistry. Full comments and recommendations are supplied with all analyses When tissue analysis is used in conjunction with this kind of soil analysis, the best interpretation of results can be obtained.

Physical soil analysis

A full range of analyses are available, conducted by an A2LA accredited laboratory.

Seed purity check

Robert Laycock's seed purity check is a search by a qualified seed analyst of a 25-50 gram sample (depending on species) to allow the content of important broad-leaved and grass weed seeds to be assessed.
